Las marcas de coches más y menos fiables de 2017

Hay un montón de factores que influyen en la decisión de compra de un coche nuevo, pero uno de los más importantes es la fiabilidad. Es tranquilizador, después de comprar un vehículo, saber que seguirá funcionando sin problemas tiempo después de que deje de oler a nuevo.

Existen numerosos estudios que intentan descubrir cuáles son los coches más fiables del mercado. Uno de ellos es el Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) que cada año realiza JD Power. En la edición de este año han entrevistado (de octubre a diciembre del año pasado) nada menos que a 35.186 propietarios de modelos comprados en 2014. Nos parece más interesante, desde luego, que el estudio de calidad inicial que realizan a personas después de tres meses con el coche. Aquí se trata de problemas que aparecen después y te obligan a acudir al concesionario a medio plazo.

En este estudio, centrado en Estados Unidos (también elabora un ranking de fiabilidad en Alemania, un mercado ya muy similar al nuestro) se pregunta por todos los fallos que puede tener un coche nuevo. Desde fallos mecánicos a cuestiones tecnológicas de menor calado. Los resultados de la encuesta se emplean para calcular cuántos problemas cada 100 vehículos (PP100) sufre cada fabricante, al tiempo que se realiza un promedio de la industria automovilística.

Más del 20% de las quejas estaban relacionadas con la tecnología en el automóvil, con un montón de propietarios informando de problemas con los sistemas de información y audio. Destacable que suba un 44% los problemas con la batería. No creemos que la gente que compró coche en 2014 sean más propensos que otros a dejarse las luces encendidas, sino que la mayor complejidad de los coches modernos tiene algo que ver con esto.

Te dejamos ahora con la lista para que puedas echarle un ojo. Lideran fabricantes de alta gama, pero ojo, que también hay bastantes generalistas… y coches premium con índice de fallos mayor que la media de la industria.

Las marcas más fiables

Respecto al índice de fiabilidad de 2016, no hay variaciones en las primeras posiciones. Lexus encabeza la lista, seguida de Porsche. Toyota y Buick (que podríamos considerar “nuestro” Opel) intercambian posiciones.

Escalan muchas posiciones, respecto al año pasado Mercedes-Benz y Hyundai. Bien también BMW y Chevrolet. Destacable el subidón de Kia y Mini, que han pasado de estar por debajo de la media a coquetear con el Top 10, por delante de marcas tan prestigiosas como Audi y Volvo.

Las 10 marcas menos fiables

Cuatro de las marcas que encontramos en el final de la lista pertenecen a FCA (Fiat, Jeep, Dodge y RAM). Sin duda deben mejorar en este sentido. Nos ha sorprendido encontrar a Infiniti entre los cinco últimos… mientras que Nissan está unas posiciones más arriba, también por debajo de la media. A Ford tampoco le van muy bien las cosas, la verdad.

Las sorpresas

Los coches británicos tienen una reputación de mala calidad, pero Jaguar se quedó solamente un punto detrás de Honda, mientras que Land Rover resultó más fiable que Ford y Jeep. Y ya que hablamos de la fiabilidad japonesa, Subaru, Mazda (además de Infiniti y Nissan) se quedan por debajo de la media.

Los modelos más fiables

De los coches que destacan desde JD Power (más bien los encuestados) que se venden en Europa, destacar las buenas posiciones, dominando sus segmentos, del Toyota Prius o el Lexus GS (este último se impuso al Mercedes Clase E o el Audi A7). Dentro de los SUV destacan el Volkswagen Tiguan, el Mercedes GLC o el Lexus RX.

Te recordamos que como toda encuesta, sobre todo en términos de fiabilidad, hay que prestar atención a otros factores, como el uso que ese conductor ha hecho de su vehículo, del mantenimiento realizado… y de problemas de usabilidad de la tecnología. Las marcas han de ponerse en serio con este tema ya que “los problemas de usabilidad que informaron los clientes en sus primeros 90 días de propiedad siguen molestando tres años más tarde en números cada vez mayores”, indican desde JD Power.
