Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, una bestia con 717 CV

Lo cierto es que Jeep nos tiene acostumbrados a algún que otro modelo destacado como el Grand Cherokee SRT que contaba con un motor V8 y 468 CV. Pero esta vez han ido un paso más allá y presentan el nuevo Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, el tope de la gama Jeep y el SUV de producción más potente que podamos encontrar. Se trata de una auténtica bestia que cuenta con 717 CV y 875 Nm de par (casi 250 CV más que el SRT).

En sus entrañas descansa un enorme motor V8 sobrealimentado de 6.2 litros, el mismo que utilizan los Dodge Charger y Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Esta mecánica es capaz de mover a este SUV que supera las dos toneladas verdaderamente rápido. Acelera de 0 a 96 km/h en 3,5 segundos, completa el cuarto de milla en 11,6 segundos y tiene una velocidad máxima de 290 km/h. La marca afirma que con estas cifras se trata del SUV más rápido del mercado.

El potente motor V8 está ligado a una transmisión automática Torqueflite de ocho velocidades y entrega la potencia a las cuatro ruedas con un diferencial electrónico trasero. Cuenta con varios modos de conducción (Auto, Snow, Tow, Sport y Track) y en el más deportivo el reparto de potencia entre ejes es de 30-70 y los cambios se hacen en 160 milisegundos. Para poner un poco de control a tanta potencia, utiliza unos frenos deportivos Brembo que lo consiguen parar de 96 a 0 km/h en 35 metros.

Para distinguirlo de un Grand Cherokee SRT tendremos que fijarnos en los detalles, ya que apenas hay diferencias estéticas entre uno y otro. Este ejemplar estrena llantas de 20 pulgadas que pueden ser de aluminio forjado para ahorrar peso. Donde estaban las luces antiniebla ahora hay unas entradas de aire complementarias y otro detalle es el sistema de escape deportivo con cuatro salidas en color negro.

En el interior se utiliza el acabado tope de gama del Grand Cherokee y se añaden algunos elementos exclusivos. En su pantalla de 8,4 pulgadas del sistema multimedia UConnect ahora se muestran datos más centrados en el rendimiento del vehículo. Este modelo estará en el Salón de Nueva York y se comercializará en Estados Unidos, aunque por desgracia no está confirmada su llegada a Europa.
