Ya es oficial: Este es el nuevo y esperado Ford Fiesta 2017

Luego de varios meses de especulaciones y fotos espías, finalmente la marca norteamericana del ovalo acaba de presentar a nivel mundial el totalmente renovado Fiesta 2017, el que llega (al menos en otros mercados), en 4 diferentes niveles de terminación, el ST de línea deportiva, el estiloso Titanium, un elegante Vignale y la novedad de una versión vestida de crossover llamada Active.

Como se especulo por un tiempo, el nuevo Fiesta ha crecido en tamaño en 71 mm y 12 mm en su ancho, pero manteniendo un diseño exterior muy cercano al modelo actual. Los focos delanteros son de nuevo diseño y alojan dependiendo del modelo, focos de proyector y luces diurnas LED. La parte trasera es quizás donde se aprecian los mayores cambios, con nuevos focos y una zaga que recuerda a modelos mayores de la marca. 

La fabricación y su calidad ha sido mejorada pensando en convertirse en un modelo de referencia, ofreciendo mucho equipamiento disponible, además de incluirlo de manera más fluida. Por ejemplo, los sensores de estacionamiento están incorporados en los paneles de la carrocería, los limpia parabrisas están ocultos bajo la parte superior del capot, no hay tornillos visibles en los focos traseros y la separación entre el techo y el portalón trasero ha disminuido  en un 30%.

El interior si recibe muchos más cambios, donde el más apreciable es la nueva pantalla táctil de 4.2, 6.5 o hasta 8 pulgadas según el acabado, con mejores terminaciones en general, para tratar de acercarse a modelos compactos más premium. La marca destaca que ha utilizado mucho mejores materiales, junto con mejor aislación del exterior, donde por ejemplo dice que es la mejor de su categoría, con 7% menos de ruido a 100 km/h que la generación anterior. 

Para poder ubicarse en la zona más premium de los compactos, ofrece mucho (de verdad mucho) equipamiento disponible u opcional difícil de encontrar en modelos de su tamaño. Comenzando con el sistema de info entretenimiento SYNC 3, con una excelente resolución y opciones de conectividad inalambrica, sistema de sonido Bang&Olufsen como opción, llantas hasta 18 pulgadas, por mencionar algunos.

Otros sistemas disponibles son el sistema de estacionamiento activo, que puede estacionar el vehículo de manera paralela o perpendicular, sistema de alerta de tráfico cruzado, control crucero adaptativo, limitador de velocidad, alerta de punto ciego, indicador de distancia de seguridad, alerta sobre fatiga del conductor, asistente de mantención de carril activa y alerta de colisión frontal, entre otros. Realmente impresionante y de agradecer que la marca incluya en un modelo compacto.  

Los modelos más diferenciados de la gama serán los ST que incluyen detalles deportivos en su exterior, suspensión deportiva, asientos deportivos, detalles deportivos en su interior, volante plano en la zona inferior y la nueva linea Activa, que integra una suspensión con mayor despeje del terreno, barras en el techo y algunos detalles en la carrocería de apariencia más ruda. 

A nivel de chasis, la marca dice que ha mejorado la rigidez torsional en un 15%, gracias al mejor trabajo de aceros y moldeado laser, entre otros. Los anchos de vía se han aumentado en 30 mm adelante y 10 mm atrás, junto con una distancia entre ejes de 10 mm mayor. Con esto, la marca dice que mejora el manejo y permite ofrecer un agarra 10% mayor en curvas, también gracias al sistema de control de torque vectorial.  

Los motores ofrecidos, al menos en otros mercados, se han simplificado, con el conocido 1.0 litros Ecoboost en versiones de 100, 125 y 140 hp, todas asociadas a una caja manual de 6 velocidades mientras que una automática de 6 velocidades también puede ordenarse con la versión de 100 hp. Las opciones diésel incluyen el último 1.5 litros TDCi en versiones de 85 y 120 hp. 

También se ofrecerá un motor de gasolina de 3 cilindros de 1.1 litros en potencias de 70 y 85 hp, asociado a una caja manual de 5 velocidades. Las versiones menos potentes del 1.0 Ecoboost y del 1.5 Diésel incluyen un grilla activa, y los modelos manuales tienen una nueva función ECO que ajusta el motor y acelerador para mejorar el consumo.
