OCHO CONSEJOS PARA LOS AMANTES DE LAS MOTOS

Un amante de las motos que se respete debe conocer, al menos, lo básico en mecánica, conducción y prevención, para disfrutar al máximo de estos útiles vehículos.

Al respecto, Piero Mercado, gerente de Marketing de Pulsar, brindó 8 recomendaciones que todos los motociclistas ( tanto expertos como novatos) deberían de tener en cuenta.

1. Elegir correctamente

Antes de comprar una moto, asegúrate de que esta “queda a medida”. Los pies deben llegar al suelo cuando estás sentado y los controles deben ser sencillos de accionar.

2. Conocer la mecánica

Una motocicleta requiere más cuidados que un automóvil, ya que una falla, así sea mínima, si no tiene los cuidados oportunos, puede ser fatal para el piloto.

Por ello, revísala por completo antes de usarla. Se debe realizar el mantenimiento en las fechas indicadas por los asesores de cada marca y en los talleres certificados.

3. Equipo de Protección

El atuendo adecuado es aquel que te protege y tiene mayores posibilidades de evitarte lesiones. Es indispensable el uso de casco aprobado, protección facial, ocular y ropa de especializada con refuerzos para caídas.

4. Respeto de las Normas

Otro punto clave, es conocer las normas y saber adaptar la conducción a cada entorno. En zonas urbanas, hay muchos más vehículos que en carretera, por lo que es fundamental mostrarse siempre ante los demás conductores.

En cambio, en carretera, las altas velocidades agravan las consecuencias de las caídas y los vehículos de dos ruedas son mucho más vulnerables a las condiciones climatológicas adversas. “Hay que leer el manual y conocer las normas de conducción”, agregó Mercado.

5. Seguir la estrategia de los cinco pasos

Los mejores motociclistas permanecen atentos a lo que ocurre a su alrededor, mediante la implementación de un proceso de cinco pasos que les permite hacer juicios apropiados y aplicarlos correctamente en diferentes situaciones de tránsito. Estos son: observación, identificación, predicción, decisión y ejecución.

6. Estar en estado de Alerta

Todo motociclista debe tener siempre presente que depende de él mismo no ser el causante o participante desprevenido de cualquier accidente, identificando y separando los diferentes peligros.

7. Usar un carril completo

El motociclista no debe compartir su carril ni introducirse entre hileras de vehículos detenidos o en movimiento, pues queda muy vulnerable ante lo inesperado.

Por ejemplo, una mano puede salir por una ventanilla, una puerta puede abrirse, un auto puede doblar inesperadamente, la moto puede chocar los espejos de los vehículos en hileras, etc.

8. Adelantar siempre por el carril izquierdo

Para adelantar, el motociclista debe conducir por la parte izquierda de la pista a una distancia segura para incrementar el margen de visibilidad y hacerse más visible. Debe hacer las señales y revisar el tránsito que se aproxima, así como usar los espejos retrovisores y girar la cabeza para mirar el tráfico que tienes detrás.
