Se han vuelto locos después de que, en la presentación de este Honda Civic Type R Prototype, la firma nipona haya confirmado que el Type R llegará al mercado americano por vez primera. Allí lo mostrarán en el próximo SEMA de Las Vegas… y ya hay gente ahorrando.

Este Honda Civic Type R Prototype anticipa los rasgos de la versión más deportiva del compacto de la firma, el Honda Civic 2017 con el que compartía stand en París. Si recordamos al prototipo que anticipó al Type R 2015, no es de esperar que haya cambios muy drásticos. Deberíamos conocer la versión de producción en la segunda mitad de 2017, cuando salgan las primeras unidades de la factoría de Swindon (Reino Unido).

El prototipo muestra una carrocería vitaminada, con pasos de rueda ensanchados, una gran parrilla frontal, el capó abultado con una entrada de aire, los paragolpes rediseñados. La pintura, con efecto de aluminio cepillado, puede que no esté en el catálogo de colores definitivos, pero resalta los detalles rojos que siempre han estado presentes en generaciones anteriores. Unas llantas de 20 pulgadas negras, con neumáticos de 245 mm, dejan entrever frenos Brembo con discos perforados.

En la zaga destaca el alerón, que sobrepasa la anchura del propio vehículo. En la parte baja, un difusor trasero muy generoso realizado en fibra de carbono. Honda nos cuenta que en el futuro Honda Civic Type-R este material será protagonista en numerosos revestimientos interiores y exteriores. Destaca en medio las tres salidas de escape en el centro, con una central de menor tamaño, algo poco habitual (el actual tiene cuatro).
