Hyundai RN30 Concept, el debut de Hyundai N

Uno de los lanzamientos claves para una marca en el Salón de París es el Hyundai i30 2017. Es el coche que pretende situar a la marca a la altura de las europeas en el segmento más importante del viejo continente: los coches compactos. Eso implica tener versiones deportivas y el adelanto de la misma llega en forma de prototipo, el Hyundai RN30 Concept.

Desde luego, el modelo que anticipa el debut de Hyundai N, la nueva división deportiva de la firma, tiene un aspecto muy radical. Parece llegado directamente del mundo de la competición. Ha sido desarrollado en colaboración por Hyundai Motorsport y han logrado un nivel de agresividad estética que no deja indiferente.

Viéndolo, parece que el Hyundai i30 ha pasado por una sesión de gimnasio extrema. Su carrocería es 30 mm más ancha y 84 mm más baja, con pasos de rueda flotantes para dejar pasar el aire, que alojan llantas de 19 pulgadas monotuerca. En el frontal no falta un splitter muy pegado al suelo, una parrilla enorme… y en la zaga el gran alerón integrado en el techo (con una curiosa forma para  o el difusor trasero con doble salida de escape en acabado cerámico blanco.

En el interior de este prototipo, pocas concesiones a la comodidad. Y es parece que te adentras en un coche de competición. Backets como asientos con arneses, jaula de seguridad… Destaca lo bajo que van todos los elementos para conservar un bajo centro de gravedad, su volante deportivo con una pantalla integrada, la consola central repleta de interruptores para un aspecto más racing…

No es mera fachada. Este salvaje Hyundai RN30 Concept oculta bajo el capó un motor de 2.0 litros de cubicaje y cuatro cilindros que anuncia 375 CV de potencia y 431 Nm de par. Se asocia a una caja de cambios automática de doble embrague que envía ese potencial a las cuatro ruedas. La marca nos cuenta que tiene un sistema de válvula de escape variable que modula el sonido y un diferencial de deslizamiento limitado electrónico para regular la entrega de par a cada rueda en curva.

Este motor será el mismo que monten los modelos de producción de Hyundai N (quizá con algo menos de potencia). Desde luego, un modelo halo qe tirará de las ventas de otras versiones más mundanas…. y un rival temible para los grandes referentes del segmento. Volkswagen Golf R, Ford Focus RS, incluso modelos de marcas premium como el Audi RS3 o el Mercedes A 45 AMG tendrán un rival a su altura.

One of the key launches for a brand in the Paris Motor Show is the Hyundai i30 2017. Looking at it, it looks like the Hyundai i30 has gone through an extreme gym session. Its body is 30 mm wider and 84 mm lower, with floating wheel passages to let air through, housing 19-inch wheels monotuerca. On the front there is no lack of a splitter very close to the ground, a huge grill ... and in the rear the large spoiler integrated in the roof (with a curious shape for the rear diffuser with double outlet exhaust in white ceramic finish.

Inside this prototype, few concessions to comfort. And it seems that you get into a racing car. Backets like seats with harnesses, safety cage ... It emphasizes how low all the elements go to preserve a low center of gravity, its sports steering wheel with an integrated screen, the center console full of switches for a more racing aspect ...

It is not a mere facade. This wild Hyundai RN30 Concept conceals under the hood a 2.0-liter cubicle and four-cylinder engine that announces 375 hp of power and 431 Nm of torque. It is associated with an automatic double-clutch gearbox that sends that potential to all four wheels. The brand tells us that it has a variable exhaust valve system that modulates the sound and an electronic limited slip differential to regulate torque delivery to each corner wheel.

This engine will be the same as the Hyundai N production models (perhaps with less power). Of course, a halo qe model will pull sales from other more mundane versions .... And a fearsome rival for the great referents of the segment. Volkswagen Golf R, Ford Focus RS, even premium models such as the Audi RS3 or the Mercedes A 45 AMG will have a rival to its height.
