CUÁNDO ES NECESARIO CAMBIAR LAS PASTILLAS DE FRENO

Revisar el estado del sistema de frenos de tu vehículo es algo fundamental para asegurarte de que podrás obtener la máxima deceleración posible siempre que lo necesites. No hay una fecha ni un kilometraje recomendado por los fabricantes para sustituirlos, ya que el desgaste dependerá en gran medida del tipo de uso que le des a tu coche. Por ejemplo, si circulas mucho por ciudad o practicas una conducción más deportiva, tendrás que cambiar las pastillas de freno antes ya que en esas circunstancias trabajan de forma más intensa y por tanto, se desgastan más rápido.

Por norma general, el coche te puede avisar de que es el momento de sustituir las pastillas de freno de varias maneras, ya sea por un testigo luminoso en el salpicadero o bien, con un chivato sonoro que emitirá un ruido cuando recurras a los frenos (algo parecido a un chirrido). También lo puedes apreciar en el tacto del pedal, que varía. Siempre hay que comprobar el desgaste de las pastillas y el espesor de los discos con herramientas adecuadas, por lo que te recomendamos que acudas a tu centro Euromaster.

Lo más habitual es que tengas que cambiar las pastillas de freno del eje delantero antes que las del trasero. Esto se debe a que es este tren el que realiza casi todo el trabajo a la hora de detenernos, pues la mayor parte del peso del vehículo se desplaza hacia adelante cuando aplicamos los frenos.

De ahí que muchos coches empleen un sistema de frenos de disco delante y unos tambores detrás (más baratos pero menos potentes), en especial en los modelos de pequeño tamaño y en los vehículos industriales.

Las pastillas de freno, junto con los discos y la pinza, son componentes fundamentales de los que depende nuestra seguridad, de ahí que sea importante verificar que funcionan con normalidad. De nada te servirá llevar unos neumáticos en buen estado si tu sistema de frenada no está a la altura y viceversa.
